Good Dog! Service Dogs by InstaDog. InstaDog is working with Nonprofit Good Dog Autism Companion dogs. InstaDog provides the training required for these very special dogs, training each dog to meet the special needs of the individual.
EDUCATION Good Dog! is dedicated to educating both the general public and the autism community about the benefits of autism service dogs. Because this is a relatively new field that is growing, we feel it is important that people are informed on the rights of individuals with autism service dogs, as well as the positive impacts the dogs are making in lives everywhere. Laura Sylvester is available to speak to your organization about the aforementioned topics. She usually is accompanied by her son’s companion dog, Orbit, which makes for a fun and educational session. Contact Laura for more information at: laura@gooddogautism.org
RESEARCH
One of most important long-term goals of Good Dog! is to to conduct research on the effects of service dogs on individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorders. We will work with your family, teachers, and therapists to chart behavioral changes and goals.
PLACEMENT
Our primary objective is in helping families determine if an autism service dog is right for their child;
and if so, finding and training just the right canine for each unique child. You can read more about our approach
and processes on the Good Dog! webpage. Service dogs have been proven therapeutic tools for those suffering with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, as well as offer companionship to those on the autism spectrum. We provide follow up lessons and public access test training. For people who want a bit more information navigating the service dog options, visit the blog willworkfordog.com. This is a great site full of information of one family’s journey with the service dog world.
All our Good Dog! puppies live in our home until approximately 8 months of age. Here they become well socialized, receive all vaccinations, and are off-leash obedience trained. Clients can also enjoy the fun of puppy hood through play dates and visits during their time with us.
